A Study on Musical Education Theories of Dalcroze, Kodaly and Orff
Kim Hye-Gum

Abstract
Among musical educators, Dalcroze, Kodaly and Orff have been well known to us by their respective methods of the musical education for preschool children. The purpose of this study is to search for the most effective educational methods for infants, using the research of Dalcroze, Kodaly and Orff¢¥s methodology of the musical education for infants. Through the study of this body of literature, some key conclusions can be made:
1. The musical opportunities are not solely for the musically-talented infants but for all infants because infants have musical abilities.
2. The musical education should be started during the infant stage; this is the proper time to develop children¢¥s musical senses and abilities.
3. The Musical education programs for infants should be based on infants¢¥ stage of development, interests, and musical level.
4. A good music education environment should be provided to infants because it can have a great influence upon infants¢¥ later musical development.
5. The Musical education should focus on the infants themselves and the role of the teacher, in this process, should be as a guide who can help develop infants¢¥ musical potential further.
6. Infants should be given various musical opportunities to express themselves and their musical creativity as well as to play musical instruments.
7. Effective music education materials, which are relevant to infants¢¥ emotional state and Korean cultural heritage, should be developed.
